ATX Psychology

a concierge approach to
evidence-based therapy

1.

Anxiety Disorders

Fear is the output of a life-protecting motivational system. We've all felt it's effects at one time or another--when looking at the ground from 10 stories high or watching a horror film with lots of surprises. However, the fear system can become hyper-sensitive and your responses may seem out of proportion to the situation at hand, or fear is too easily provoked by thoughts and memories of previous experiences. Disorders like panic disorder, phobias and posttraumatic stress disorder are the result of the fear system gone awry.  We specialize in treatment for anxiety disorders.

2.

Insomnia

Do you have difficult falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting the type of sleep that makes you feel rested?  Sleep is critical for mental and physical health and yet as many as 40% of the general population have struggled with disordered sleeping.  We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to address the thoughts, behaviors, and circumstances that interfere with quality sleep.  Call today and make an appointment to begin getting the sleep you need and deserve.

3.

Addiction

If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction to alcohol, opioids, sedatives, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, cigarettes, or a combination of substances, don't delay--call for an initial consultation and get the information you need to make changes.  In addition to substance abuse treatment, we also provide therapy for sex and love addiction and gambling addiction. The first step can be the hardest one to make but it is where your journey to recovery begins.

4.

Relationships

Over time, individuals can get lost in the minutiae of life and develop maladaptive strategies within their relationship. By emphasizing stress reduction for both partners, improving communication skills and using cognitive behavioral therapy to encourage healthy emotional flow within the relationship, we assist couples in meeting their partnership objectives. We specialize in working with couples when one or both partners participate in a program of recovery from addiction.

Therapy Sessions
Our Approach

Our psychology practice utilizes a concierge approach that provides superior access and quality.  We offer same or next-day appointments virtually, by phone, or in-person. We return calls, texts, and emails quickly (e.g., within 3 hours) and availability for this support includes weekends and holidays. We have fewer clients and can therefore spend more time on individualized treatment plans, research, and continuing education.  Our fees are a bit higher than most, but we are laser-focused on client needs and our check-in calls (15 min) are not billed.  We also work with clients to provide superbills so that they can submit receipts to insurance companies for out-of-network benefits.

Most importantly, we use an interdisciplinary method to clinical work that is data-driven.  This means that information derived from scientific research is integrated into each client's diagnosis and individual treatment plan.   The goal is to provide the most effective, scientifically literate solutions available for mental health.

"Knowing how things work is important, but I think that's an incomplete view of what science literacy is or, at least, should be. Science literacy is an outlook.  It's more of a lens through which you observe what goes on around you."

Neuroscience

Advances in neuroscience have increasingly been incorporated into  treatment of mental health disorders. This is especially true in the areas of anxiety, stress, addiction, and sleep disorders. Clinicians at ATX Psychology are trained in neuroscience and stay current with those advances.
